Lov
With reference to your letter marked 24976/1909
of the 9th instant on the subject of the boycott in-
stituted by the Self Government Society of Canton
against Messrs. Butterfield and Swire on account of
the "Fatshan" incident, I am directed by Secretary
Sir E. Grey to transmit to you herewith, to be laid
before the Earl of Crewe, copy of a despatch from His
Majesty's Minister at Peking dealing with this ques-
tion.
You will observe that Sir J. Jordan has already
brought the action of the Self Government Society
personally to the notice of the Chinese Government and
I am to inform you that Sir E. Grey has approved his
action in doing so.
Under these circumstances it does not appear ne-
cessary to send further instructions to Sir J. Jordan
e Under Secretary of State,
Colonial Office.
